The Grade II* listed church dates back to 1102 and is one of the oldest in Wales. It is of significant architectural and historic interest. St Barrwg's is said to have been used by Oliver Cromwell's army as accommodation for their horses in the siege of Caerphilly Castle. The grant was to help renew rainwater pipes and gutters and to replace defective timbers.
