About us

We want to keep churches open and in use.

Churches, chapels and meeting houses are impressive, exciting and surprising places.

Whether seeking quiet reflection access to critical community services, a warm welcome, a place to worship, or a space to explore, we believe they should be loved and supported. Available to all.

Working together with churches across all four nations, we help to maintain these wonderful historic buildings and keep them thriving today, and tomorrow.

Our Vision

Our vision is that church buildings across the UK are well maintained, open to everyone, sustainable and valued.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help keep the UK’s wonderful collection of church buildings well maintained, valued and used.

Who are we?

Our people

We are a small staff team, centred in Westminster, as well as a trustee board made of representatives from across the UK.

Our patrons and presidents

We are immensely grateful to have enjoyed almost 70 years of support from Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and for the continued support of our Vice Patron and presidents.

Our grants committee

Our grants committee meets three times a year and decides which churches in need of support will receive grants from us.

Our annual review 2022-2023

Details of our work over the last year, including where we made the biggest difference to churches across the UK, can be found in our Annual Review.
