This Grade I listed building has many 13th century exterior features and was built on the site of an earlier Saxon church with a Saxon coffin being found at the base of the tower.

Visitors are welcome at any time and keys can be obtained from the Vicarage which is next door to the church.

In 1967 it was consecrated as a parish church when the parish of St George was born. It is a community church serving two large housing estates. In 2007 a modern, fully equipped, Community Centre was built onto the church.
The church is of brick and tile construction with a lovely interior, recently redecorated. The beautiful altar is of interest as it was made by a local carpenter in his kitchen.
