St Edith of Polesworth
St Edith's, Orton on the Hill, is a magnificent Grade I medieval village church, with fine Georgian fittings, in rural west Leicestershire. Toilet and kitchen facilities were installed c.2007 and space created at the west end (accessible by wheelchair) for community events. The church provides the only community space for village activities.
Poor drainage, combined with inadequate rainwater goods, is causing low-level damp in the perimeter walls of the church; the damp is also impacting some internal fittings. The project will solve the damp problem - essential before any other repairs or improvements are attempted.
