St Andrew

There is no precise date forthe founding of St Andrew's Church, but experts believe that the narrowness of the church, the tower without buttresses, and the chancel and the nave walls being continuous, are all signs of an early church. It is thought that the nave was built by the Normans and the chancel was added in the 13th century. The first firm date in St Andrew's history is 1304, when its first rector is recorded.

The grant will help fund repairs to the chancel, relaying pantiles on the north and south sides of the roof to new preservative treated battens and breathable underlay, repair of eaves, fascia and soffit boards, and the renewal of rainwater downpipes.
