Situated prominently in the heart of the village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, St Mary’s is the only church actually on the course of Hadrian's Wall.

Built to the architect Billings unique design in 1854, our church has many beautiful features.

Built in 1860 to an Athony Salvin design the building replaced the earlier church dating to 1169.

Founded in the late 12th century under Bishop Puiset of Durham, it was built on land granted by the Diocese to Sherburn Hospital for sick brethren to convalesce.

St Martin's church is a 'very remarkable building with windows glowing with gemstone colours' according to architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner.

'One of the finest small churches in the country dating back to the 7th/8th century' according to E Fernie.

The original parish church of Brampton lies within the site of a Roman fort about a mile west of the centre of the town.

In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, adjacent to the hidden gem of the Solway Firth, St Michael’s offers the visitor a peaceful space for reflection, together with many points of historical interest.

Acton Parish Church, Church of Ireland, Poyntzpass received £4,000 of funding from the National Churches Trust. This is as part of the Treasure Ireland project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Pilgrim Trust and the Department for Communities.

A beautiful historic church, set on top of an early medieval ringed fort, with its distinctive round tower, the church was built by the people of the parish in 1885-7.
