Lacock Abbey is packed with history, starting first as an abbey and nunnery, then became a Tudor family home.

Thruxton church has been at the heart of village life for over 850 years, many of the church’s treasures are in the form of tombs and effigies of some of the Lords and Ladies of the Manor.

As you round the corner you are in for a great surprise, over the south porch is a lovely, if weathered, panel of Our Lady of Pity, one of the most popular images in late medieval English iconography.

The picture postcard village of Lacock is indelibly linked with the pioneering photographer William Henry Fox Talbot, whose family home was Lacock Abbey.
