St Mary's was built in 1856, on the site of several earlier churches, by the Londonderry family who lived at nearby Wynyard Hall.

The Church is steeped in history with its early 12th century nave featuring sloping inner walls and 13th century chancel and lancet window.

St Michael's embodies an architectural history typical of the English parish church: Anglo-Saxon foundations; a Norman nave, tower and chancel; aisles of the 13th century; and sensitive reworking at the end of the 19th century.

St Oswald's is essentially a 12th century church that was extensively rebuilt and restored in Victorian times but still has the chancel arch and font remaining from the original Norman church.

The Church of the Assumption was built in 1952 and attracted the interest of conservationists because of its interior decoration.

St Paul's church was built around 1732 and rebuilt in 1768, becoming cruciform by the addition of an apse and transepts and a low bell tower. 

Designed by Samuel Close, the church is built in a Late Victorian Gothic Revival blend of decorated and perpendicular styles
