A simple hall church on a much older, elevated site on the Lecale peninsula, with panoramic views across the Irish sea, the Mountains of Mourne, and the Lecale coastline.

This Grade II* listed church dates from the early 16th century with much reused early medieval stonework from a nearby 9th century church destroyed by the River Eden.

High House Chapel was built in 1760 as 'a preaching house for Divine worship' and is the oldest purpose built Methodist Chapel in the world to have been in continuous weekly use since then.

This is one of Cumbria's finest small churches, hidden away down a stone walk, with, uniquely, a stone bell tower on the hill above.

The outward appearance is perpendicular but inside is something unique to English parish churches and was described by Nicholas Pevsner as ‘one of the architectural sensations of Cumberland’.

The church is a grade I listed building dating to the late 12th century and early 13th century.

First mentioned in 1183 in the Bolden Book, here are two 13th century stone effigies of a knight in armour and his lady.
