It was refurbished in the early 1960s, by the architect Fred McDermid, to accommodate the congregation of Port Glasgow EU Congregational Church.  

The Good Shepherd stained glass window was designed and built by Harold Clokey of Belfast and was dedicated on 10th April 1955 in the Balfour Street building then transferred to the refurbished church in Brown Street.
