St Paul's was built in 1884, It was designed by Henry Shelmerdine as a traditional redbrick building with stained glass windows, a fine font and features in the chancel.

Pickering’s parish church is famous for its stunning medieval wall paintings.

The church is on the west side of the village, close to open farmland, it is a stern looking building on the outside, refaced in Bath stone in the 19th century, when the church was over thoroughly restored by William Butterfield.

We’re on many cycle routes and the terrain is perfect cycling country and also, if you’re on a narrow boat on the canal, you can walk from Golden Nook Bridge to find us.

The church has a history which goes back over 900 years and there is a suggestion that it occupies a burial mound from the pre Christian era. This is a holy place where generations of worshippers have felt drawn to God.
