The current building is the third Methodist to have housed the Aberdeen society of Methodists. It dates from 1873, although the Methodist Society in the city goes back to 1759, John Wesley making the first of his 14 visits two years later. With its balconied Sanctuary, spacious hall and numerous meeting rooms, the 150 year-old granite structure serves the present age well.
At the heart of the church's service to the community are its kitchens. A large kitchen on the first floor provides for the adjacent church hall. A new kitchen on the ground floor now makes it possible to offer food in the sanctuary. The kitchens are in operation six days a week, providing a focus for community and hospitality.
