St Laurence church is a 13th century historical village church set in a deep valley close to the Wishing Well fountain spring.

St Mary's is a fine village church first built by the monks of nearby Barlynch Priory in the early 13th century on the site of an old Saxon church (the manor was held in the 11th century by King Harold's mother, hence Regis).

It is not known when there was first a church here but the present building indicates that a substantial church was built on this site in the late part of the 13th century.
