St Giles, situated in the tiniest of hamlets, is the birthplace of Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1207-1228 and a central figure in the drafting and signing of Magna Carta in 1215 at Runnymede.

It is not known when there was first a church here but the present building indicates that a substantial church was built on this site in the late part of the 13th century.

A Grade II 12th century church which stands alone in a field just south of the village of Great Langton in an idyllic and peaceful rural setting.

St Mary's is one of the cradles of English Christianity, built on the site of a wooden Saxon monastery founded in 654 by St Cedd of LIndisfarne (who is buried here).

Set above the beautiful Chess Valley in an area beloved by walkers, this mid 19th century church was largely designed by the famous Victorian architect, George Gilbert Scott, and has striking early 20th century wall paintings on its chancel arch.
