With a cornerstone laid in 1650, St Berres replaced an earlier medieval church on the site. It's construction was funded by a bequest from the Revd John Davies, who was a translator of the Welsh Bible along with William Morgan. Work done to restore and maintain the church includes a victorian roodscreen, a relief triptych, arts and crafts decoration and stencilling, and a lady chapel.

It is set within walking distance of Offa's Dyke trail, and next to the popular Druid Inn pub right in the heart of the village.
