The medieval church with its fine Tudor tower and 16th century chancel arcade was probably built by monks for the local community.

The tower and porch date from the 15th century, and the remainder from an 1874 rebuilding in perpendicular/ decorated style with some Tractarian features. The eight bells were restored and rehung in 2001.
