St Andrew’s has a distinctive half timbered belfry on top of its tower, an unusual ground plan and medieval roof timbers. Much of the original Norman building remains intact and there is an impressive stained glass window by Thomas William Camm.

The church also has a connection with Sir Edward Elgar who at one time lived just up the road at Plas Gwyn. He often visited the church and is reputed to have played the fine Nicholson & Lord organ there. His composition Elegy for Strings Op 58 was inspired by the view from nearby Mordiford Bridge.

Outside there is a 14th century churchyard cross and for keen walkers the church also lies within two hundred meters of the Wye Valley Walk which passes through the village.
