A small rural church, one of the lesser known buildings designed by the architect William Burges and standing in the middle of National Trust farm, common and woodland.

The church stands next to Over Compton House, the home of the Goodden family.

St Faith's is a Grade I building dating back to Norman times set in a beautiful Cotswold stone village with wonderful walks in the surrounding countryside.

A Grade I listed former Augustinian Priory built in 1170, one of the few remaining monastic churches in Leicestershire.

In 1845, the Reverend Patrick Bronté, father of the famous novelist sisters Charlotte, Anne and Emily Bronte, appointed the curate the Revd Joseph Brett Grant to take charge of the newly formed Ecclesiastical district now known as Oxenhope.

Both the nave and chancel of St Lawrence's are 12th century, and the north porch protects the original, beautifully carved, Norman north doorway.
