St Giles church stands beside picturesque almshouse and near to the great house of the Ashley Coopers, Earls of Shaftesbury.

The church dates from Saxon times and stands at the centre of the village as it has done for centuries.

A large 14th and 15th century church with a slightly earlier tower impressively placed at the edge of the village near Norton Hall formerly a seat of the Knightley family and in the 19th century Beriah Botfield, the bibliophile.

The building was originally known as the London Street Mission House and the first foundation stone was laid in 1800.

St Mary's is built of the local, golden Ham stone, and has features from the 12th century to the 20th.

St Mary's church is all that remains of the medieval village of Easton Neston when, following the enclosure of the land, the village was transferred to Hulcote.

There are two distinct reasons for coming here. The rare medieval wooden effigies and the association with the great nonconformist missionary William Carey (1761–1834).
