The church dates from around 1450 and is built of red sandstone, with a tall, typically Somerset tower and contains a fabulous rood turret housing the spiral stair leading to the top of the rood screen.
This small parish church sits in a cluster with Cothelstone Manor, two very old cottages and the farm at the foot of the Quantock Hills National Landscape in West Somerset.

The setting is enchanting. The church has some lovely stained glass, an ancient font, four effigies, two seventeenth century wall memorials and original pew ends. There is a long connection to two old families, Stawell and Esdaile. Ianthe Esdaile the poet Shelley's daughter is buried at the top of the churchyard.
