A masterpiece of Gothic Revival, designed by EW Pugin.

In the tiny village of Alnham and set on the edge of the Northumbrian National Park, close to the source of the River Aln and somewhat off the beaten track.

Designed by Philip Hardwicke and completed in 1823, the design is based in St Paul's in Covent Garden, with many internal design features referencing our patron St John the Evangelist.

A 13th century church, home to many outstanding features including an 18th century singers gallery, a listed pipe organ and 14th century stone effigies of the Astley family, considered to be some of the finest of their kind in the region. 

Roger de Montgomery, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, owned most of Shropshire, and it was he who founded this Benedictine abbey in 1083, he is said to have been buried here when he died in 1094.

An interesting example of a 1950s church, one of many built by Birmingham diocese to cater for the needs of the people living in the outer ring of the city which was expanding rapidly at the time.

This rather extraordinary parish church, set on a spacious green hill above the River Severn, stands in stark contrast to Shrewsbury's medieval streets and mainly Tudor townscape.

St Martin's has wonderful stained glass and its 13th century altar which is in use.

A surprisingly successful merging of 13th century and Victorian architecture, decorated with fine examples of 19th century stained glass.

The Cotteridge Church is an Anglican, Methodist and United Reformed Church Local Ecumenical Project in South Birmingham and is a busy seven day a week church well known in the area as the heart of the community.
