The dedication to The Holy Paraclete is unique in England.

Blanchland got its name from the white habits worn by monks of the Premonstratensian order who founded Blanchland Abbey.

Our small stone church has an interesting history, a peaceful churchyard and attractive views.

A casualty of Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries, the only remaining part of the 12th century Premonstratensian Blanchland Abbey is part of the abbey church which today serves the parish of Blanchland.

The church sits quietly on a hill top amongst the trees near to the ruins of the ancient listed Grade I Monastic Grange and it is on the route of the Northern Saints Trails and the Roof of England long distance trail.

Consecrated in 1864 and featuring an artefact from the Great Pyramid of Ghizeh and a reredos by the Venetian Salviati.

Sarah Losh (1785-1853), a local landowner, designed St Mary's in 1840, partly in memory of her sister and parents.

St Ives is an early work (1868) by prolific architect Charles Hodgson Fowler, and its style is the plain 19th century reinterpretation of medieval Early English.

Notched into the summit of the circular mound at the centre of the village of Cumwhitton, St Mary's is an ancient church dating from about 1160AD.

Set in the lovely creekside village of Ruan Lanihorne the church, dedicated to the Celtic Saint Rumon, has been the centre of Christian life in the village and surrounding countryside for over 1000 years.

St Andrew's, built in 1155AD, nestles in the dale with an ambience that gives a peaceful feeling to all who enter.
