Since around 1150, the honey coloured Yorkshire stone church and tower of St Peters has been welcoming people to Barnburgh.

All Hallows church is a large and beautiful building dating back at least eight centuries with a list of incumbents that can be traced back at least as far as 1230.

With its stark white walls and impressive high dome the outside of this building tempts visitors to explore further.

This Grade I listed Gothic masterpiece is Pugin's model church and it embodies the principles he followed throughout his career.

A unique example of an early dissenters meeting house which still contains many original features.

Building on the church began during the 12th century and it has been the centre of religious life of the village for over 800 years.

St Peter’s is mentioned in the Domesday Survey in 1086, suggesting that there was a church on this site then.

A jigsaw church of many periods, from Anglo Saxon to Victorian, the conspicuous herringbone masonry of the chancel walls probably dates from before 1066, whilst the round arched doorway is perhaps only a little later.
