St Paul’s church, Ashford Hill is an elegant Victorian gothic church with a spire whose foundations were laid in October 1844.

Situated at the top of a hill in the Southgate Green Conservation Area, has a 180 foot spire which forms a prominent landmark visible for miles in North London.

The magnificent pinaccled tower of St Giles, built around 1480, dominates the surrounding village and is reputed to be the best tower in the Mendips.

The church was established sometime in the 12th century and by 1356 it was dedicated to St Mary.
