St Andrew’s stands as a striking and historic church in our Somerset village of Compton Dundon, its presence dating back to 1291. Set high atop one of the village’s many hills, the church is a commanding landmark, offering a sense of continuity and heritage to residents and visitors alike.

Its grounds are graced by a magnificent yew tree, estimated to be over 1,700 years old, which is a significant source of pride for the community. This ancient tree not only attracts visitors from near and far but also enhances the church’s character and the sense of history that surrounds it. The churchyard, expansive and serene, is meticulously cared for by a dedicated group of volunteers from the village.

The depth of affection and commitment the community holds for St Andrew’s is similarly illustrated by a recent fundraising campaign to restore a complete circle of bells and the associated ringing balcony.

A living church for a living community.
