A low, simple building in a large round churchyard, St Margaret's, as it stands today, dates from the 14th century, but there was almost certainly a much earlier church here.

Designed by Paley and Austin and constructed between 1882-1885, this imposing sandstone building occupies a spectacular elevated position behind Dalton Castle and Market Place.

Best known as the burial place of King Cadfan of Gwynedd, who died around 625 AD, shortly after the church was established.
