St Catherine's is a place of great tranquillity set in an idyllic secluded position on the edge of Sacombe Park with parts of the church being over 800 years old.

The interior is a treasure house of Morris glass designed by a variety of preRaphaelite artists, Powell mosaics and some fine 20th century glass by Christopher Whall, Karl Parsons and Douglas Strachan.

Visit our historic (1846) church incorporating a 13th century font and Rutson family connections, set in a loved churchyard with its own war memorial and Commonwealth War Grave.

A Norman (12th century) church, St Mary’s is rich in interesting features including the famous ‘Bed Bug’ weather vane which is said to have been put there to commemorate King John’s fateful visit to the village.

A long flight of steps leading up to it from the town square gives great presence to this distinguished looking limestone building whose walls are topped with a parapet of intricately pierced stonework.

The Grade I church is built in a mixture of styles from Norman to the 17th century.

The church is set back from the High Street in the old village of Bushey, behind a village green and a pond.

The exterior of St Mary's is a pleasing, rather homely mixture of roofs and walls clustered around a central tower and spire.
