St James is a Grade I listed building dating back over 200 years which (together with the rectory and church hall) overlooks the historic and attractive village of Moy.

A'Chleit church sits on a promontory north of the village of Muasdale on the west coast of Kintyre.

The church of St Mary the Virgin is mainly 13th and 14th century on Anglo Saxon foundations, with Victorian restoration after a devastating fire in 1840.

An evocative setting, in front of Muchelney Abbey and opposite the medieval Priest’s House, internally, the unique ceiling was painted in the 1600s with angels in Tudor costumes.

The church sits quietly on a hill top amongst the trees near to the ruins of the ancient listed Grade I Monastic Grange and it is on the route of the Northern Saints Trails and the Roof of England long distance trail.

This small, charming church nestles in the village of Muker in Upper Swaledale and has much to interest the casual visitor.

Contains 21 carved heads, depicting subjects including the green man, crowned heads and strange animals.
