Charming medieval church in an idyllic rural setting with an award winning post fire restoration in 2010 to 2013.

The church was built in 1843 by Sydney Smirke and enlarged 1860.

All Saints was built between 1350 and 1419 by Thomas Babington (one of whose family members was later executed for plotting against Elizabeth I), although there has been a church in the village since at least 1086.

The church is set at the far end of the village and from here you get wonderful views over the Welland valley.

The townsfolk of Hatfield Broad Oak wanted a church as big as a monastery, so that is what they built!

A 14th century church, restored in 1868-9 by George Gilbert Scott.

It is likely that there has been a church on this site from at least 1100, maybe earlier, when Hawkhurst belonged to the Abbot of Wye, and then of Battle.
