Sibthorpe, Nottinghamshire
There was already a church here at the time of the Domesday Book in 1086.
There is a low 13th century tower, the chancel is 14th century. On the north wall of the chancel there is one of the wonderful Easter Sepulchre.
A College of Chantry Priests was founded in 1324 by Thomas de Sibthorpe with chantries dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St John the Baptist and St Thomas the Martyr. The College was surrendered to Henry VIII in 1540. There are earthworks and listed Dovecote to the rear of the church which the Priests would have used.
