From Norman times onwards St Michael's was Herefordshire's biggest and most important church.

Built by the Wrighte family in the 1720s in the style of a Georgian Reception Hall to match the development of Gayhurst Manor.

This church with its medieval porch, dates back to the 12th century and has several important historical features including an ancient font,stained glass windows,a rood screen and interesting brasses and is set in a beautiful, well maintained churchyard.

Beautiful Norman church in glorious countryside, the churchyard contains a yew tree which is one of the biggest and oldest in Herefordshire.

Brinsop's 14th century church, at the end of a cul de sac lane, is famous for its ancient depictions of St George, one in stone the other in glass.

St Mary's was built almost entirely in the early 14th century, at the same time as Sir John de Broughton was building the adjacent castle.

St Owen's is in a privately owned park which once belonged to Bromham Hall but there has been a church on this site for at least 800 years and there are signs which indicate that there may have been an earlier Saxon building here.

The first known reference to the village is in 1070 as Stantona, an enclosed settlement of stoney ground.
