Find a church

Close to the River Bain, a church has been on this site for about 900 years.

Although there has been a church here since the 12th century, the present building dates from the mid 14th century and incorporates a number of architectural styles.

A Victorian Decorated Gothic revival by Stephen Lewin in 1850 which looks like stone from a distance but is actually built of brick.

‘Fylliog church is an ancient, thoroughly restored in the 20th century, set in a quiet and peaceful location nestled beneath trees beside a flowing river, it is an oasis of calm where the spiritual and divine is easy to feel.

A small attractive stone church, largely Victorian with features dating back to the 1200s.

A tower dating from the 14th century, a 15th century wall painting, a monument to knight who fought at the battle of Bosworth, a Robert Adam font, a Joseph Nollekans monument and beautiful stained glass.

In 1334 John de Harrington founded a chantry in this place, whereby the chaplain and his assistant were enabled to support themselves and pray daily for the souls of their founder and his family.

It is believed that Holy Trinity is one of the 'four voices of four hamlets round... the merry, merry bells of Yule' found within the poem 'In Memorium AHH' by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Holy Trinity has Saxon origins but the current building was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. In 1859 the church was extensively altered by Victorian architect James Fowler.

For many years, people have worshipped on the site of St Peter's, in the small, rural village of Trusthorpe and visitors have often remarked on the atmosphere or spirit of the place.

Surrounded by its beautiful, historic and thousand year old churchyard, the ancient church is one of the oldest in Lincolnshire.

The church is made from a kaleidoscope of colours, greenstone, brick, limestone and red sandstone.
