St Michael & All Angels

The small church is of Celtic origin first recorded in 1253 and possibly built on the site of a monastery with a circular churchyard.

Features include an ancient entrance door with original latch, hinges and door knocker,16th century roof timbers and English Gothic East window, remains of early wall painting, interesting memorials, and a unique wooden font.

The patronal saint’s day is celebrated at the end of September when the Feat Stone (101 lbs) is taken into the churchyard and a competition commences to determine the Village Champion. Gwylmabsant has been celebrated in this way for many, many years.
