The church is set back from the road and is surrounded by mature yew trees (one of which is more than 2,000 years old), with only the spire visible above them.

St Mary's church is all that remains of the medieval village of Easton Neston when, following the enclosure of the land, the village was transferred to Hulcote.

Dating back to the Norman Conquest, our church has one of the oldest examples of a medieval stained glass window in the country, dating back to the year circa 1320.

Founded in the late 12th century under Bishop Puiset of Durham, it was built on land granted by the Diocese to Sherburn Hospital for sick brethren to convalesce.

The earliest reference to a church is from 1141 although it is probable that one existed here well before the Norman Conquest.
