St Peter's sits in the heart of the village, it is a delightful church containing some fine treasures.

Known as 'The Queen of the Wolds', St Edith's is a Norman church, remodelled by JL Pearson for Sir Tatton Sykes in the mid 19th century.

Built on a Saxon foundation that may date back to the 700s, the present church takes character from the 1170s, when it was rebuilt by the Normans and transformed into a large and splendid building.

St Michael's is a large and imposing church, dominating town and country from its hilltop site.

Finished in 1860 to replace at least two earlier buildings, this United Reformed church, built in the Italianate style is one of the most significant buildings in Bishop’s Stortford.

St Mary’s church building is striking, it has a square tower with a peal of six bells and dates back to the 12th century.

The church dates from around 1450 and is built of red sandstone, with a tall, typically Somerset tower and contains a fabulous rood turret housing the spiral stair leading to the top of the rood screen.

The present church contains a fragment of a 13th century nuns choir that was constructed alongside a pre-existing parish church, which explains its unusual shape.
