St Mary's was built in 1871 in Gothic Revival style to the design of celebrated Frederick Pepys Cockerell. The design of St Mary's is completely out of character with the architectural conventions of the time, especially in Ireland. The church facade features red and white checker board tiles and a white statue of the Virgin Mary in the gable. The imposing gable also features and outstanding stained glass rose window.
