Adeiladwyd yr eglwys gyntaf ar y safle hwn yn 1841, ond fe’i difrodwyd yn ddifrifol gan dân. Yn ôl yr hanes, ym mis Mai 1891, cynhaliodd y Ficer ‘briodas yn yr adfeilion’.

Built in 1959 to serve the new urban estates in the Woodthorpe and Richmond area of Sheffield, the church is designed by Basil Spence (designer of Coventry Cathedral) to make effective use of natural light and space. A bronze sculpture by Ronald Pope depicts St Catherine of Siena at the foot of the cross holding a burning heart decorates the bell tower.
