A welcoming gem within Beadnell. St Ebba's is a grade II listed building dedicated to St Ebba, the sister of St Oswald, King of Northumbria. The church replaced a chapel founded in the 7th century on Ebba's Neuk near the harbour. Built in 1746, extensively rebuilt in 1860, the church has Gothic style windows; some by the celebrated artist William Wales. An unusual octagonal pierced stone screen around the foot of its charming little spire engenders interest. Memorials to the men of the village who fell during two World Wars can be found within the church. Windows depicting St Ebba and St Oswald and a fine carved rood screen may also be seen.
