Straight up the path opposite the station, it is the windows of St James that make it worth a visit. Adorning the east and south sides of the building, they are particularly impressive on a sunny morning or afternoon. The east window is from 1880 and more traditional, but most of the others are memorial windows from the 20th century showing a range of styles.

Most modern is the Royal British Legion window from 1992, most pictorial is the Good Shepherd window by Edward Payne, from 1948, and not to be missed is the Light of the World window based on Holman Hunt's painting, tucked away to the right of the communion table.

In addition there are wall hangings, including one to commemorate our 150th anniversary in 2016, and even a mosaic representation of St James made by younger members of the congregation. Having enjoyed the art works, rest a while in the stillness. Visitors often comment how peaceful the building is - a refuge from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
