Ride+Stride for churches 2022

Published:

Thousands of people took part in the annual Ride+Stride fundraiser for historic churches on Saturday 10 September 2022.

Following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Riders and Striders visiting churches took the opportunity for quiet refection and prayers of gratitude for her life and service.

Ride+Stride is organised by County Church Trusts throughout England, with support from the National Churches Trust. This year a team of seven staff from the National Churches Trust took part in the event.

Last year, the event raised over £1.2 million and organisers are hoping this year to have at least matched that sum.

Quiet reflection

Sarah Crossland, Engagement Manager for the National Churches Trust who visited six churches in Yorkshire said:

“At this time of national sadness, it seemed right to visit churches as part of Ride+Stride. It gave me a chance for quiet reflection and to celebrate the commitment given to the Christian faith and churches by Her Majesty,  Queen Elizabeth II. The sun shone, and there was a warm welcome in all the churches we visited in Yorkshire, together with tea and delicious homemade cake in many. ”
