A beautiful 12th century village church with a rare 15th century timber tower.

The 'Mother Church' for the district of Calderdale, open daily for prayer, worship, events and to visit - everyone is welcome to our 900 year old church!

This impressive stone built church perches atop War Hill, the site of a battle between invading Normans and the local Saxons, it is believed that those killed were buried here and a place of worship established.

St Peter’s most striking feature is its Saxon round tower which was built circa 1000AD and considered to be one of the best in the country.

An imposing structure at the entrance to a new show avenue, namely Victoria Avenue, linking the two ancient villages of High and Low Harrogate.

In mid Victorian days, interest in health and in travel coincided with the building of Harrogate around its new Spa, Mary Anne Fielde donated her house to be the Vicarage, and her garden for a church and a school to be built.
