Welcome to All Saints, a church since Anglo-Saxon times, our town's most historic site and the place where people come to find community.

St Wulfram's slender and graceful spire, distinctively flanked by its four spirelets, would very likely have been the tallest in England when it was built in 1280-1300, and it is still one of the most elegant.

The current Grade II Listed grey stone church, dedicated to St John the Baptist, was designed during the Georgian era by Thomas Berry of Gainsborough between 1794-95 after the previous 14th century church fell.

In the centre of the village with fabulous views of the Coniston Old Man which overlooks Coniston Water, the church hails two local heroes in John Ruskin and Dinald Campbell.

Memorial, stained glass window and stone cross, in memory of five sons from this hamlet, who all died in The Great War.

Set close to Bowes Castle and surrounded by trees the small, low church, dating from the 12th century is easy to miss, but is well worth a visit.

The church is 13th to 15th century, with a small piece of medieval glass and notable 20th century stained glass by Theodora Salusbury.

St Peter & St Paul's church welcomes you through one of the most impressive Norman doorways in the country.

The Beacon Church Centre was built in 1928 with halls added in 1961 and a concourse in 2005.

St James’s dates from 1832 and, together with St John’s Tidbury Green and Christ the King in Widney Junior School, serves the Parish of Shirley.
