St Marcella was the site of a holy well where Marcella, of Celtic descent, offered meditation and simple refuge for travellers around 900 years ago.

St Anne's Episcopal Church, Dunbar was built in 1888 in the Gothic Revival style and has an interior with a pleasing tranquil simplicity together with a number of other interesting features.

This whitewashed church was built in 1643 in the shape of a Greek cross, having four arms of equal length.

During the early 19th century the population of Doncaster increased markedly and in 1827 an Act of Parliament was passed enabling the erection of Christ Church as a new parish church.
