Hucknall has a fascinating history and heritage, many of the famous people who once lived here, went on to help shape the world, whether through literature, the arts, the built environment or early computing.

St Leonard’s is an 18th century church built on the site of a much earlier building, the first church in Dinnington was recorded in 1088.

Built in about 1150, St Michael's church is a simple single aisled building displaying a Norman chancel arch and a later 14th century tower.

Robert de Basford or de Ashby founded a Cistercian priory at Catesby in c1175 and endowed it partly with income from Basford, it is one of only four churches in England dedicated to St Leodegarius.
