A village parish church distinguished by a magical woodland setting and an entire wall of medieval wall paintings.

Chipping Campden is one of the loveliest Cotswolds towns, packed with buildings made from the famous honey coloured stone.

St James’s dates from 1832 and, together with St John’s Tidbury Green and Christ the King in Widney Junior School, serves the Parish of Shirley.

The story of St Helen's is very much tied to the story of the ruined castle just to the south as both castle and church were built in the 1470s by Lord Hastings.

The Meeting House dates to 1663, making it the earliest in the country still in use. 

The church is on the west side of the village, close to open farmland, it is a stern looking building on the outside, refaced in Bath stone in the 19th century, when the church was over thoroughly restored by William Butterfield.
