The church was built in 1864, paid for by the fourth Duke of Northumberland and designed by Anthony Salvin renowned architect of the romantic period.

St Gwinear’s battlemented granite tower with its square stair turret can be accurately dated to 1441, when a bequest was made to build it.

As you approach the village, St Anne's is the tallest and most strking building; it has centuries of history, with connections to Strangford village and the Castle Ward Estate.

Above the porch door is a chiro stone lozenge found on site in the 1860s which dates from 350-400AD, the Christian faith has been here for more than 1600 years!
