Reputed birthplace of Wales’s patron saint in uplifting location.

The year 1750 is embossed in lead on the porch doorway and services are held once every fortnight. Inside there is a warm and welcoming atmosphere of a traditional country chapel complete with a pot bellied stove. Sheep and cattle graze in the next field and dry stone walls bound a woodland fringe and hay meadows. It is a place of peace and tranquillity.</span></span></p>

Founded in the late 12th century under Bishop Puiset of Durham, it was built on land granted by the Diocese to Sherburn Hospital for sick brethren to convalesce.

Hidden in the woods south of the village, St Mary's is a simple aisleless building with its tower, nave and chancel all severely restored by the Victorians.

Originating from the 12th century, the church lies at the centre of this Sussex Weald village, is open daily and is alongside a traditional village pub!

One of the highest churches on the North Devon coast, a landmark yet hidden from marauders; great views of Bideford Bay from the churchyard which is probably celtic in origin.

As part of Arundel's striking hilltop townscape, the parish church is eclipsed by more flamboyant buildings that are visible for miles around: notably the huge 'Victorianised' castle and the Roman Catholic cathedral.

From a distance the late medieval flint and flushwork tower is typical of East Anglian country churches, but the surprise on reaching the south side of churchyard is quite the most splendid Norman doorway.
