A hidden gem, in a secluded corner of north west Anglesey, with monastic, artistic, poetic, lifeboat and bone setting links!

There is evidence of a church on this site in Saxon times, consecrated on the 29th September 998, of which nothing now remains.

A long flight of steps leading up to it from the town square gives great presence to this distinguished looking limestone building whose walls are topped with a parapet of intricately pierced stonework.

The original church was built in the 12th century but the current St Augustine’s was designed by famous 19th century architect William Butterfield.
