Find a church

Originally a Methodist Church, planned to cater to the new Park Rise estate, built in the early 1960s.

The church is Victorian and was built by the 10th Duke of St Albans for use by his family, estate workers and the villagers.

The church was built with money from a grant from the Joseph Rank Benevolent Fund.

Opened in 1887 largely to serve an area developed as a consequence of the work undertaken by the Bestwood Coal and Iron Company, founded in 1872.

The church was designed by Vernon Royle, who was much influenced by Sir Basil Spence’s three churches in Coventry.

Built in 1975, St Philip’s is a small brick building with sloping roof bearing a single bell turret and a later extension.

A large rural church with parts dating from the 12/13th century having connections with three Royal Surgeons and which featured in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Built in 1842, the Jerusalem Chapel was later remodelled in the 1870s to resemble an amphitheater.
