While St Clement’s is a relatively new building, the history of a parish church in Chorlton goes back a long way.

Little is known about the early history of the church.

St Peter & St Paul is Grade I listed and a wonderful example of Georgian architecture with a beautiful reredos behind the altar, the modern octagonal lantern was designed by Louis Osman who also designed the coronet for the Prince of Wales.

This old, remote, pilgrim church is best reached on foot.

St Mary's dates from the 12th century and is enclosed by an ancient walled churchyard with many ancient gravestones and two very old yew trees.
